The invention relates to a device for detecting the end of a paper web, in particular in printing data-processing equipment. The device is constructed as a closed bow and bears in a pivoting manner a lever on which a signalling device is mounted. The paper web is introduced through the bow and below the lever. When the paper web has left the device, the contact paths provided in the lever are bridged and the signal is triggered. The device has the advantage that it can be provided at any site within the paper web as desired by the operator. It is held by its own weight on any type of rest, even without additional assembly parts. Provision can be made for the signalling device to be connected to the printer by means of a pluggable cable connection in order to switch the printer off as soon as the end of the paper has been detected.
